This blogpost contains links to information that can help you
pass Microsoft exam 70-669. It's one of the Microsoft exams to show
off you're App-V knowledge. And in this case also the other
Microsoft Desktop Virtualization solutions.
Initial links about what is covered in the
exam:
The official
Microsoft page for exam 70-669. General exam information.
The official Microsoft
Course which helps prepare for the exam. I just reviewed the
course details.
TechExams
website: A ton of links to all of the technology covered
in the 70-669 exam. Good work from forum member Hyper-Me there.
Topic on the Microsoft
Learning Forums: Specifically the links to the Free
E-book and the MED-V videos are very useful. In case of the
E-Book the Desktop Virtualization technologies are part of a good
preparation for the exam as are the Hyper-V and RDS/VDI bits.
Technology specific:
Next is an overview of the links and information I used. I
build, configured and tested almost all the technology in my
test lab. A Microsoft TechNet Plus subscription comes in handy!
App-V
Because of my background with App-V, I didn't pay any attention
to this during preparation for 70-669. But here are some great
resources:
TechNet Virtual Labs: System Center under Application
Virtualization: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/virtuallabs/bb539977
Search Virtual Labs for App-V on Microsoft Events website:
https://msevents.microsoft.com/cui/SearchDisplay.aspx?culture=en-us#culture=en-us;kwdAny=app-v;eventType=4;searchcontrol=yes;s=1
AppVirtGuru: Specifically this post
contains a ton of useful links to official and unofficial
documentation on App-V: http://www.appvirtguru.com/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=3471
Infrastructure Planning and Design: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee354207.aspx
App-V and AppLocker Video: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/ee532036.aspx
MED-V, Virtual PC and XP Mode
The official MED-V website:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/enterprise/products/mdop/med-v.aspx
MED-V videos from the link mentioned in the beginning of this
post:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=1f0d3e54-25d1-4ec1-a844-3b508bd63ffa
I build and tested a MED-V environment using the Med-V Trial
guide found on the official website:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/4/3/8/43841F85-472D-446C-8B7E-1E41C8C59F8F/MED-V%20TrialGuide.pdf
Infrastructure Planning and Design for MED-V: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff433591.aspx
Additional MED-V info on TechNet:
Microsoft Enterprise Desktop Virtualization Planning,
Deployment, and Operations Guide: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff433567.aspx
Windows 7 XP Mode:
The Understanding Microsoft Virtualization Solutions (Second
Edition) E-Book contains very good information on XP Mode:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/microsoft_press/archive/2010/02/16/free-ebook-understanding-microsoft-virtualization-r2-solutions.aspx
Regarding Virtual PC and Virtual PC 2007, and their differences,
this is covered in the free E-Book. The MED-V and XP Mode
paragraphs provide more information on VPC.
Also I found the following link: Deploying Windows XP Mode
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=9f142a1a-a7b7-4d0b-bd56-d9627f39c14f&displaylang=en
RDS, RemoteApp and VDI
I mainly used the TechNet Library to prepare for the RDS,
RemoteApp and VDI parts of the exam:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd647502(WS.10).aspx
I read the info from, and build my test lab as described
in, the Getting Started section. I skipped the RemoteFX part
since that wasn't available yet.

User State Virtualization
Most of you will already know what this is about:
Roaming Profiles, Folder Redirection and Offline files. These
are quite commonly used, here are some links:
Microsoft User State Virtualization Overview: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/ff629664
Folder Redirection Overview: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc732275.aspx
System Center Virtual Machine Manager Self Service
Portal
Read Installation and Configuration on Microsoft TechNet: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb740747.aspx
In all cases, get hands on experience if you don't have that
already.
The provided information in this post does not guarantee passing
Microsoft exam 70-669, but I did!

Good luck!
